I have rented a unit for 38 years (as of August 2025), however the new owners are not extending my lease past 6 June 2026 as they want to renovate and charge rent nearer to market value for the area of Greenslopes. I am looking to downsize either to a studio or 1 bedroom apartment, preferably ground or first level (currently on the second-level and looking to future potential mobility issues). I have been an exemplary tenant for 38 years and have never knowingly been in rental arrears. I have never caused any trouble with other tenants, and have never caused any damage to the unit. My maintenance requests have been few and far between - I even have my original stove (1980) despite the previous owners offering to put a new one in. I am self-employed and work from home (online writing - no clients to my place, all work is remote). I do not play loud music, nor do I have parties - generally one visitor at a time. I am looking for long-term tenure and would not want to sign anything less than a year's lease each time. I would like to remain in a new place for at least the next 10 years.
